Wrist sprains: Probably the number 1 injury to all breakdancers one time or
another, meaning if your going to break your going to need to read this because if it
hasn't happened it will and if it has already happened don't worry it will again... The
cause can be anyone of the hundreds of moves we do as breakdancers, face it we put
our
wrist into moves and positions that they were not quite designed to do and we not
only do it once but we do it over and over again... thank God wrist don't have a mind of
their own because the day you announced to your body you were going to learn how to
break your wrists would pop off your hands and leave running....

How to prevent injuries: first off before you do anything loosen up the tendons
in your wrist by doing hand rotations, than gradually put weight on your wris tby getting
into a push up position and with your toes and legs rock your weight more over your
hands slowly back and forth..also try doing handstands..this will not only help loosen
your wrists but also help strengthen them ....if you cannot do a handstand then do the
handstand exercise on volume 4 to help....

How to heal an injury: Well people, this is probably going to be simpler said
then done because as much as we all want to heal we also want to break so most break
dancers do not give time for wrist injuries to heal because it is the one pain that many
people can overlook, at least for a while...but remember one thing... the longer that you
overlook the injury and don't take time to heal it the more severe the injury can get and
the longer it will take time to heal...I remember with myself I couldn't do crickets (1
hand hops) for almost 4 months because the pain of putting weight on my wrist was
unbearable, but that was because I kept neglecting taking care of the injury in the
beggining....The first thing to do is buy some wrist supports ...this will not only help
support an injured wrist but if you wear them they can also prevent an injury...the next is
take time to heal your wrist by not doing anything that would place weight on
them...okay i know that one is the hard one and if your like me and you have to break
than i suggest icing your wrist after each time you break until the injury heals....just get a
plastic sandwich bag fill it with ice and place it on your wrist for about 10 minutes after
you break and a couple of times during the day if your wrist cotinues to hurt later..mainly
this will help the inflamation and swelling..also you might want to take an anti inflamatory
like advil or ibuprofen...I don't suggest this all the time as it is not going to be the cure
because like all injuries time is the only thing that will heal any injury correctly.
