Head Injuries: I am going to address head injuries that are not so much due
to hitting your head but from headspins as this is probably the one injury that
unfurtunately you must get pass to get your headspins down and yes
everyone and I mean everyone goes thru it ...first it's that soreness on your
scalp that just doesn't seem to go away you know that feeling like you have
just used a sheet of sand paper to apply your shampoo and second that
feeling like you have a throbing bruise on the top of your head that feels like
you've damaged your skull but you know it can't be and third to top it off what
about that dreaded dandruff that comes out in sheets of scalp the kind of
flaking that would make a bottle of Head and Shoulders run and finally if you
really persist here is the end all questions for those of you that master
headspins...will the hair ever grow back from my bald spot from riding
headspins?

How to prevent it: Well I'm here to tell you ladies and gentleman
if you are going to head spin this will happen in some degree or another...
hey, if Man was intended to spin on his head for days he would have a set of
toes on his skull...but we know as breakdancers to push beyond the typical
limitations of the human body so we do it anyway...right? RIGHT! So here are
a few ways that will help you get thru this process till your scalp gets used to
this or you lose all sensation on your scalp which then you won't know if it
hurts or not...first and foremost when you start spinning on your head put a
knee pad in your hat, ski cap, helmet whatever you use...this will help in the
initial bruising that will take place...face it your head has never had the full
amount of body weight on it before you learned how to break so don't think
you can just jump on your head and have no sense of discomfort......ahhhh
you say you don't have a knee pad well if you are reading this now, more
than likely you have something that you can use right under your hand...yes
that's right the mouse pad...I'm not saying use it but if you don't have a
sporting goods store or any place with a sports section than yes you can use
the mouse pad and it will help...hopefully you have a thicker one, just cut it to
a smaller section that can fit into your head spinning gear....Here is a public
service announcement that I know most b-boys don't want to hear....a spot of
baldness on the top of your head is not attractive to most women...total
baldness okay, but a spot of baldness on a full head of hair....no chance...
unless you happen to be a monk in thast case you won't have to worry what
women think...I'm hear to tell you I have worked with some of the best head
spinners in the world and when you grind your head enough till the hair
follicles say Forget this!!! I'm outta here!!!...and a callous appears on your
scalp to say I'm here to replace the hair guys..well that's when the hair says
so long for good...to explain even better...have you ever got a scrape on your
knee and then it scars, and then you notice hair doesn't grow there the same
or even at all....BINGO!..it can happen to your head... do not get to this
point....hey i can't blame anyone for doing it cause I myself see the effects
and have a slight less abundance of hair on the spot where I spin, hence I
slowed down on the damage by not practicing everyday on it...there is a
trade off by doing this... yes, it will take you longer to learn but in the long run
it will be a lot healthier for your scalp... remember balance is the key to
everything including the amount of time you spin on your head...

How to Heal: Well that's easy stop spinning on your head, but that's not going
to help breakers so a breaking suggestion is first ice your spin spot on your
head...take a towel and put a couple of pieces of ice in it then place it on top
of your head for about 5 to 10 minutes then do it again about 15 minutes later
afterward take some days off till you can actually touch the top of your head
and it not feel as tender...yes it will be a little tender but not to the degree
where you will cause severe damage...you'll also notice an improvement
when you start practicing again because for one it doesn't hurt and for
another the rest of your body has had time to strenthen the muscles in your
back and neck to help your head.
