groin pull: ahh yes...the notorious groin pull, commonly happens doing
moves like windmills, flares and some types of headspins...this feeling
is like someone has lit your inner thigh on fire with no way to put it
out....what you have actually done is torn your groin muscle...it has
happened to me seriously about 5 times during my career and I
remember the pain of each incident like it was yesterday.....

how to prevent it: Stretch out thoroughly with excercises for the inner
thigh before attempting any moves such as the ones shown in Volume
4, especially when it is cold outside or if you have just been sittting
doing no movements prior. If you feel a slight pain after doing a move
stop immediately and rest it, you could just have a small tear that would
only take a day or 2 to heal but if you continue you could severely tear
your groin.

How to treat it: Groin pulls no matter what take time to heal and you
must let it heal by not doing any movements that could inflame the injury
anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. In my case with my show schedule I
sometimes do not have that luxury so this is what I do: I rest the injury as
long as i can, take potassium vitamins which help heal torn tissue
( potassium is also found in bananas) I rub some sort of heating rub on
my inner thigh ( like Tiger Balm or a Sports Creme) before doing a
performance. Be careful on how close you apply heating rub to valuable
parts of your body... if you know what i mean.... I stretch the muscle
lightly with stretch exercises like the one I do in Volume 4... I also will
soak in a jacuzzi and slowly stretch my inner thigh, but not to the extent
where it hurts but only to get the groin stretched, the heat of the jacuzzi
helps loosen the muscle this helps the groin stay flexible so the muscle
does not get stiff when healing.
